Western Egyptian Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. is a not for profit service organization established in 1965 with a goal to provide a range of services and to utilize all available resources to assist low-income residents of Monroe, Perry and Randolph Counties. Western Egyptian also offers limited services, such as LIHEAP, PIPP and Weatherization to residents of Jackson County. Much has changed since 1965, but Western Egyptian remains committed to helping low-income individuals and families achieve stabilization.

LIHEAP

Funding for the Liheap Program has been exhausted. New applications for Liheap are not currently being accepted. The new program year for Liheap will begin Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

Beginning September 1, 2022, the Employment Barrier Reduction Pilot program (BRP) will be offered through Western Egyptian for residents of Monroe, Perry and Randolph counties who currently receive SNAP, TANF or Medicaid benefits. These services are focused on individuals who experience barriers to gaining or retaining employment or who are at risk of housing instability. Supportive services through BRP include expenses for training, education, tools/equipment, uniforms, transportation related services, rent, utilities and other allowable services.
